Feeling generous? Click here – https://emunah.com/donate/
This inspiring lecture by Rav Dror teaches how to deal with the difficult family relationships, such as controlling partners and over-involved parents. Some times it is time to say “goodbye”. If there is someone in your life, who doesn’t make you feel good, and every time you talk to them or they visit you, you come away feeling frustrated and shaken up inside, so maybe it is time to create some distance from that person and that relationship. Yes we must respect our parents, but it is ok to respect them from a distance. It just means that we are not supposed to yell and shout and fight with them, it doesn’t mean that we must listen to everything they say. People have so many problems in this generation, and they already know the answer for their solutions, but they are afraid to deal with it. You have a partner that is damaging you. They make you feel anxious and frustrated. So get rid of that which is hurting you. It is so simple, but people don’t want to deal with that uncomfortable phone call, the break up call. People have parents who make them feel bad with themselves every time they call, and the solution is clearly just don’t pick up the phone, but they are afraid of what their parents will say that they didn’t pick up the phone. So they suffer for years in these damaging and toxic relationships, that could even be considered abusive relationships, instead of dealing with those on for two uncomfortable days or phone calls. Of course, if you want to work it out and try to build a healthy relationship, and you have the energy and willpower to do so with a smile, so go for it, but if you see that’s not an option, don’t be afraid to use the word “goodbye”. You are not obligated to anyone, except yourself, Your soul, and God. God doesn’t want us to suffer through anyone’s hand, and if we have enough Emunah and faith to let go, many times God has something even better waiting for us around the corner. God can take care of us and provide for us, even if we say goodbye and and let go of the relationships and people in our lives that we are so dependent on.
